I’ve been in the government service for almost 10 years now and I belong to the rank and file employee. I remember last 2 years ago after quite sometime of waiting for a wage hike the government granted all government employees for a 10% salary increase every year. At first I feel happy on it but only to find out later that the increase was so unfair to us rank and file employees. It’s unfair because only those higher rank or salary rates were luckier for their salary will increase much higher than expected. The salary increase was really more advantageous to them than to us rank and file. And to think were the one who have so many works to do for we are like their servants. I don’t say that they have no more works to do, they still have but usually higher positions just keep on asking and ordering us to do this and do that without even acknowledging our efforts after a days work or accomplishing what they’ve told us to do.
Sometimes I could say that the government is so unfair. They haven’t helped poor Juan to get out from poverty but instead push poor Juan harder to poverty. Why, because if there’s a salary increase goods will also increase so only those higher positions can afford and we rank and file still struggles to live day by day just to provide all our family needs.
Sometimes I think why not give an across the board salary increase so that it will be fair to everyone. Well this is just my opinion, I’m just expressing out my sentiments and what I feel for I really feel sad and dismay. But still I’m thankful for my very pitiful salary increase for I don't have a choice but to accept it.
