Afraid of Mascot

My son and I attended a children’s birthday party last Saturday. It has a Powerpuff Birthday theme. At first my son enjoyed the party so much. In fact he had so much fun. He joined in almost all the parlor games and reaps almost all the prizes. And then the time has come to reveal the special guest. They were told by the host to form a big circle and close their eyes and count 1..2..3..then Bubbles the cutie mascot comes out. Yipeee!!! All of the children shout for joy, they hug and surrounded the mascot. But my son got so scared he ran to me and hide at my back. Oh my gosh, my son was afraid, he was really frightened. You could not picture out the fear on his face. He even told me that we would go home. So I told him to just hide at my back for Bubbles the mascot would soon gone goodbye.This always happens every time we attended a birthday party with a guest mascot he would really hide.I dunno know how to explain it to him that mascots should not be afraid of. Maybe if he’ll grow older he’ll understand and his fears will go away or disappear.
